New description:

 Using the command 'rename' to change a files suffix, results in the
 following error message:

 {{{
 rename: test_01.htm: not a symbolic link
 }}}

 Package:
 {{{
 util-linux @2.40.1_1 (devel)
 }}}

 Platform:
 {{{
 % sw_vers
 ProductName:            macOS
 ProductVersion:         14.5
 BuildVersion:           23F79
 }}}

 MacPorts:
 {{{
 MacPorts:2.9.3
 }}}

 Test:
 {{{
 rename -v .htm .html *.htm
 }}}

 This version of the package appears to be built with the upstream fix to
 resolve
 [https://github.com/util-linux/util-linux/issues/3071 issue #3071].

 If so, I will also update the upstream issue.

Comment:

 Ok good. That was the command I had used to verify that the fix worked
 before committing it to MacPorts.
