 Thanks for this; I had noticed the PR, but when attempting to update
 OpenSSH to 9.7p1 I ran into something similar.

 I've tagged OpenSSH developer djm@ on the FediVerse and linked to this
 Trac ticket for reference since it also links to the GitHub PR with op@'s
 upstream fix in OpenSMTPD.

 open a separate Trac ticket for OpenSSH 9.7p1, I thought I would make
