 using macports-libcxx has pluses and minuses to it, but certainly is the
 easiest fix for Intel systems that can use clang and only want to run on
 the OS they are building on.

 the potential advantage of ghc-filesystem is that Lukas could build that
 on a newer system and run it on an older system, as he wants to do...
 however, that approach to building software with Macports is pretty much
 doomed without a lot more effort to make it work right anyway, so no great
 loss if he can't do that.
