 what I meant was that “hack fixes” like what this is going to need can get
 heavily criticized, so frankly I prefer others to do them and take the
 heat.

 But three years on and nobody did it yet….

 I had hoped somebody might be interested enough to work with upstream on
 the proper fix, so I have been waiting for that to happen.

 But it appears nobody is sufficiently interested to do that.
