Comment (by fmw42):

 Perhaps it has to do with one of the other ports that it needs for which
 that version is incompatible?  Might you know from the log that I provided
 which it might be (possibly OpenEXR) that I can downgrade and see if that
 works?

 Is there anything else I can test and provide that might give you more
 insight?
