 I got the same message. The solution for me was to follow the notes of the
 `macfuse` port (which is a dependence of `sshfs`):
 {{{
  Run the following before using macFUSE:

       sudo ln -fsn /opt/local/Library/Filesystems/macfuse.fs
 /Library/Filesystems/macfuse.fs
 }}}

 Then, you might need to change the security settings of Mac OS to be able
 to authorize a kernel extension --- follow the messages.
