 I did a quick test build on Linux and the only error I ran into was that
 one has to add `-std=gnu++98` to the CXXFLAGS. (Tried that via
 `compiler.cxx_standard` but that didn't work; could be because the
 underlying implementation is too Mac-specific though.)

 Note that Qt4 also has to be built with `-std=gnu++98`, unless you opt for
 the cxx11 variant (which I never tried).
