 It remains unclear to me whether adding the dependency would fix the
 original complaint, specifically broken build when the framework within
 /Library is active.  If the added Macports port gets searched ahead of the
 framework, then yes, this will fix everything.  That is what I am hoping
 for.

 Yes, having the active framework is still an illegal condition, not really
 Macports' responsibility.
