Comment (by thetrial):

 A first attempt to build it with clang-17 failed. But … I had forgotten to
 clean before. After that, a {{{sudo port install openh264
 configure.compiler=macports-clang-17}}} went through. So the error seems
 to be that the suitable clang is not called and used.
