 just as a data point, the issue this ticket was about has been supposedly
 fixed by upstream commit

 not sure where that commit is in the releases etc and if we have updated
 to a version with that commit in it and can therefore close this ticket.

 The newly-reported issue with qemu not working on Darwin PPC would appear
 to be a completely different kind of problem (and one which I doubt would
 ever be fixed by upstream barring someone providing them with a simple,
 tolerable, and tested patch).
