 I don't know about you, but when I do:

 {{{
 $ $ gcc --version
 Apple clang version 15.0.0 (clang-1500.1.0.2.5)
 Target: x86_64-apple-darwin22.6.0
 Thread model: posix
 InstalledDir: /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin
 }}}

 I'd normally expect to see what version of **gcc** is installed, not
 clang. It even says "Apple clang." But I really don't care since this
 isn't the issue.
