 Thanks for the suggestions, PAGER=cat does indeed work, after some more
 digging based on that this turned out to be an upstream issue (now
 reported).  Therefore this can be closed I think, there is nothing to do
 in macports (I will patch the Portfile in my tree until upstream does
 something).  I would close this, but did not figure out how.
