Comment (by jmroot):

 qt4-mac is x86_64 only, so the qt4 portgroup sets suppprted_archs
 accordingly, and gnuplot uses the qt4 portgroup when the qt variant is
 selected. The default is now +qt5 which should avoid this problem.
