Comment (by artkiver):

 Thanks for chiming in Clemens!

"Personally, I'd go for OpenSSL and drop LibreSSL support completely."

Well, OK, but if I recall correctly, I think you once mentioned you get
paid in your day job to work on OpenSSL? Not to disparage what Steve Jobs
referred to as "vested interests" but I kind of expect that advocacy from
 you. ;)

Similarly, Python's creator, Guido van Rossum is currently employed as a
"Distinguished Engineer" at Microsoft as one of his two jobs.

I'm not paid to work on any of this!

I've never really liked Python for a lot of other reasons; but I swear I
had built it in MacPorts against LibreSSL multiple times within the past
year. Not just python312, but also python313-devel and earlier versions of
Python too. So maybe this is something that changed upstream recently?

Choice (d) is probably the "easiest" option for sure!

Choices c and d will require more work from someone, but that someone
 probably isn't me.

I was kind of hoping maybe there would be a way to refactor the "smarts"
Clemens helpfully offered for rpki-client which I was unsuccessful at
refactoring for Got, but that doesn't seem particularly plausible in this
 instance either, darn.

Would it be beneficial to simplify the ldns Portfile in this instance?
