 mpv is based on mplayer, but with a newer, less-compatible gui onnit.

 mplayer 1.5.0 works great for me on 10.6 (and 10.4 and 10.5) but there are
 many Heisenbergs when it comes to sofware setups.

 downgrading your macports to 2.6.2 would be a very bad idea, and wouldn’t
 help anything.
