Comment (by artkiver):

 Not to reopen this, but I wasn't sure the best way to keep interested
 individuals apprised other than commenting here (maybe the PR on GitHub
 would have been another option?).

 In the Call For Testing for OpenSSH 10.0 (mailing list archive message
 here: https://lists.mindrot.org/pipermail/openssh-unix-
 dev/2025-April/041855.html ) DSA support has been removed.

 So, if folks want to maintain the legacy_dsa variant, that's probably
 going to require a patchset diff and won't really be in alignment with
 upstream?

 As previously mentioned, that isn't really the sort of thing I am likely
 to endorse personally, but I thought it would be best to give forewarning
 to others if they want to do the work, and since others created the
 legacy_dsa variant too, maybe rolling up their sleeves and seeing how much
 effort is required seems as if it is appealing?

 Note: this isn't intended to be considered a challenge @fhgwright only
 mentioning if it seems as if it may be an "itch" others may want to
 scratch.

 At least as far as local testing with the April 7th dated snapshot,
 OpenSSH still builds OK for me locally on 15.4 leveraging MacPorts (though
 minus DSA), and make tests seems to run OK as well.

 e.g.

 {{{
 ./ssh -V
 OpenSSH_9.9p2-snap20250407, LibreSSL 4.0.0
 }}}

 (truncating all of the %make tests output and just copy and pasting the
 end)

 {{{
 all tests passed
 }}}
