 That wasn't my suggestion exactly, and I think that's also not how you got
 the error you reported before! ;)

 You need to go into the directory where you first cloned my repo, then do

 {{{
 > git -C macstrop pull
 }}}

 and then do

 {{{
 > sudo port -n install macstrop/multimedia/VLC
 }}}
