 The error suggests an old version of cmake.

 This is on 10.6 ppc, but the error has no relation to powerpc.

 The issue is not CMake (which I have whatever MacPorts has in the port),
 but flags unsupported by Xcode gcc. Dropping unsupported flags from
 CMakeLists.txt fixes the issue.
