 From `man port`:

            To recursively uninstall all dependents of this port, use
 --follow-dependents. To uninstall portname and
            then recursively uninstall all ports it depended on, use
 --follow-dependencies. This will not uninstall
            dependencies that are marked as requested or that have other
 dependents.

 You should have added `--follow-dependents` but if that really does what
 it promises you'll want to double-check if it doesn't uninstall anything
 you want to keep.

 Basically you just ran into a reason why `port:ffmpeg6` exists as a
 separate port : too many ports that still require "old" FFmpeg (and in my
 experience there can also be a performance benefit to using FFmpeg 4.x
 over FFmpeg 6.x, undoubtedly depending on your hardware).
