 there is an open feature request for meson to have it have the ability to
 include another cross file:

 If it could do that, we might be able to use that to tweak the cross files
 for a specific binary for a specific build....


 At the moment I am looking for a method to chain cross files onto each
 other so there could be more than one specified for a build, or perhaps
 override the tool with an ENVVAR somehow. Haven't found either of those as
 yet.

 Another option would be to use a project-specific crossfile in the build
 directory-- but right now meson, and all our portgroups, are set up to use
 the installed cross files, and I'm not sure if or how to override that on
 the fly.
