 I just upgraded my Mac Pro to Sonoma 15.2 and clean installed MacPorts.
 I can successfully install port `openmpi`.  However, I cannot set default
 their wrappers:

 % sudo port select --set mpi openmpi-mp-fortran
 Password:
 Selecting 'openmpi-mp-fortran' for 'mpi' failed: could not create new link
 "/opt/local/lib/pkgconfig/openpa.pc": target "/opt/local/lib/openmpi-
 mp/pkgconfig/orte.pc" doesn't exist
 }}}
 Indeed the file `orte.pc` does not exist:

 % ls /opt/local/lib/openmpi-mp/pkgconfig
 ompi-c.pc    ompi-cxx.pc  ompi-f77.pc  ompi-f90.pc  ompi-fort.pc ompi.pc
 pmix.pc
 }}}
