 I have partial success in updating to the GDCM git tag of 2025 June 11.
 The CMake adjustment worked.  I am back at the original reported error:
 {{{
 ... vtkGDCMImageReader.cxx: no viable conversion from 'vtkStdString' to
 'const char *'
 }}}
 which is surprising because I thought this would be fixed upstream by now.
 Will need a closer look.
