 I encountered this issue while trying to install bash. m4 is evidently a
 dependency.

 I was able to get m4 to compile on my iBook G4 (PowerBook6,5) and on a
 Qemu-PPC virtual machine (Both running Tiger 10.4.11/Xcode2.5) by doing a
 "sudo port clean m4",

 deleting all the lines including and after

 and re-running "sudo port install bash"
