 The cctools port only contains binaries so most ports that depend on it do
 so as a build dependency.

 If you add a library to the port, and you link with that library, now you
 would have to declare it as a library dependency. Not everyone may take
 the time to figure out whether it needs to be a build or library
 dependency in their situation.

 It's simpler therefore to have the library in a separate port.

 Whether or not to use the subport feature is up to individual maintainers.
 The feature can simplify ports in some cases or make them more complicated
 in others. Port maintainers need to make their own decisions on whether
 the subport feature will help them or not. Jeremy appears to have decided
 in this case that it would not help him here.

 According to a
