 No, it looks like things work, now. I see a successful build on 15-arm64:
 https://build.macports.org/builders/ports-15_arm64-builder/builds/2893

 I also successfully built a later version from source, it seems, on my
 device that originally had this issue. The port that depended on this
 looks good.
