Comment:

 You didn't say what OS version or architecture you use, but trace mode
 (the `-t` flag) does not work on Apple Silicon machines running macOS
 Ventura or later; see #66358.

 Make sure you `sudo port clean syslog-ng` and try again (without the `-t`
 flag if on macOS 13+ on arm64); both of your above attempts were not from
 a clean attempt, since they started from the patch phase and not the
 extract phase.
