Comment:

I haven't read most of this report, because it was written by AI and
therefore tediously verbose, but it sounds like a bug in hunspell and/or
 its dictionary files.

The version of our hunspell-en_US port is 2020.12.07. It looks like a
newer version 2026.02.25 is available. Maybe it has already fixed this
problem. This and the other dictionary ports should be updated and then we
can find out if it's fixed. If you or anyone would like to prepare such an
 update, please do.

If that update does not fix the problem, then the bug should be reported
to the developers of hunspell and/or the dictionary files. I see numerous
bug reports in the hunspell issue tracker containing the word
"apostrophe". You could see if any of those describe your problem. If not,
you could file a new issue there.
