 I have noticed that this only applies for 10.12 and below:

 Have you tried changing it to:

         configure.ldflags-append -L${prefix}/lib/libcxx
 -Wl,-rpath,${prefix}/lib/libcxx
     }
 }
 }}}

 which will accommodate 10.13 to see if that works?

 Clearly, getting it to support 10.11 needs more effort and looking at the
 Portfile.
