regarding php < 7.4, my current policy is "wontfix" ‼️unless‼️ someone
really has a valid need for it because of \\
1) some legacy app/code that hasn't been upgraded that's needed in
production \\
2) they need to upgrade a legacy app/code and need a stable release to
work out from
I've done the work to get php >= 7.4 compliant w/ C23, because I can see a
valid user case - and people are actually using php-{74,80..83} - ‼️BUT‼️
noone has committed it yet; actually, the lang/php is 2 versions behind
php release despite me having submitted & updated the relevant PR. Getting
any php version < 7.4 compliant w/ the newest version of libxml2 & C23 is
a lot of tedious work, that I'm presently not willing to undertake, as I
haven't yet been presented w/ a valid user case.
Presently, I'ld say, that I might take a look at php55, but
‼️👎🏻NOT👎🏻‼️ php-{52..54,56,70..73}
I'ld say, that we at least ought to obsolete php-{52..54,56,70..73} \\
1) any code made for php-{52..54} ought to work w/ php55 \\
2) php56 really ought to have been named php60 - it was more-or-less a
transition to / test version of php70 \\
3) any code made for php-{70..73} ought to work w/ php74
