 I'm filing this ticket merely for informative purposes, to keep track of
 an issue I noticed recently after updating my outdated tree and so others
 facing this issue won't think they're insane.

 The problem is several python packages will fail to build with

 {{{ TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not iterable }}} on

 {{{if _SIMPLE_VERSION_INDICATORS.issuperset(version)}}}

 This should was a bug introduced in py-packaging starting from version
 26.1 and should already be fixed upstream.

 For me, the error showed up only using python313.

 Fix supposedly committed upstream in
 https://github.com/pypa/packaging/pull/1319
