 Thanks for your assistance. I used these commands to kick things off and
 updated all the necessary binaries. I'm buffled why {{{port sync}}}
 failed. It shouldn't have. Before the issue surfaced, I had relied on my
 shell script to auto update ports and the MacPort base. I double-checked
 that the relevant command in my script was instructed to execute with the
 superuser privileges. Now, I ran the copy in Terminal and it worked. Go
 figure.
