 macOS 10.14 Mojave and older. This is affecting other ports which depend
 on this port; for example, {{{virt-viewer}}} ← {{{vte}}} ← {{{simdutf}}}.

 If the latest version of {{{simdutf}}} cannot be compiled on older
 macOSes, then perhaps a versioned (sub)port that uses an older version of
 {{{simdutf}}} might be needed in order to allow {{{vte}}} to be installed
 on older macOSes?

 This issue originates from ticket:74211 (closed: wontfix). In that ticket,
 since it was stated that {{{vte}}} (and thus {{{simdutf}}}) is only needed
 by {{{virt-viewer}}} for serial console support for SPICE, and can be
 turned off through variants, then if {{{simdutf}}} really cannot be
 compiled for Mojave and older, it may be better to simply close this
 ticket and remove {{{+vte}}} as a default variant on Mojave and older in
 the {{{virt-viewer}}} port.
