 Could be testing with MariaDB was removed because connection failures.
 Using explicitly

 {{{
 sudo -u _mysql /opt/local/lib/mariadb-<version>/bin/mariadb-install-db
 --auth-root-authentication-method=normal
 }}}

 to initialise the db makes it accessible for the test routines, see
 #73977.
