 FWIW, I am seeing the same issue (on macOS 26.4.1 and current Xcode /
 CLT). I've had no problems with
 `glib2 +universal` up to now:

 port installed glib2
 The following ports are currently installed:
   glib2 @2.78.4_3+quartz+universal (active)

 }}}

 In my case, I have need for `universal` ports which is one reason why I
 have used MacPorts for many years.
