Wondering, why I get json cli output per default since last update and
wondering, why there is no man page in MacPorts' mas port, I've taken a
look into the upstream sources and the prebuild pkg installer provided by
the vendor, and I've stumbled over 2 issues:
1) in contrast to the upstream sources and vendor package installer, the
MacPorts' mas port lacks a man page (seems to be/would be auto-generated
via script through the build/packaging process, if the command would be
implemented, that calls the appropriate script)
The man page seems to be/is auto-generated via shell script which resides
in Scripts/generate_manual.
2) a shell script wrapper for the mas binary, which calls the mas binary
itself and pipes the output through system's jq (/usr/bin/jq) to filter
and sort json output; the wrapper is also called mas and resides in
libexec.
For comparing, see also Homebrew's formula for mas
https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-
core/blob/5349c53e03ec7da2974ed7f2ee852e580d6a5115/Formula/m/mas.rb where
both are provided.
Please investigate and enhance MacPorts' mas port file accordingly.
