> * Idiosyncratically, {{{cabal}}}'s configuration specification for the C
compiler is {{{--with-gcc}}}, and if you want {{{clang}}}, the
documentation says to use {{{--with-gcc=clang}}}. See:
> * https://cabal.readthedocs.io/en/3.14/config.html#program-options
> * {{{cabal configure --help | grep -- --with}}}

> * Therefore, to the best of my knowledge, I believe {{{cabal}}} should
be configured with {{{with-gcc: ${configure.cc}}} in its top-level
{{{config}}} file created in PG {{{haskell_cabal}}}, rather than the
current setting {{{gcc-location: ${configure.cc}}}}, which as noted here
wouldn't do anything.
Followup on these comments:
* {{{--with-gcc}}} is a {{{cabal configure}}} directive, not a valid
{{{config}}} specification
* Apparently the correct way to accomplish that is the way that's already
done with {{{gcc-location}}} in {{{config}}} created by PG
{{{haskell_cabal}}}
* However, this {{{cabal}}} {{{config}}} setting may or may not do
anything: https://github.com/haskell/cabal/issues/8476, and I'd say
probably doesn't do anything by the evidence of this very issue
* I've added @pmetzger's {{{config}}} options to PG {{{haskell_cabal}}} in
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/32843
