 Remarkably, a local {{{pandoc}}}
 [https://trac.macports.org/attachment/ticket/73754/pandoc-3.9.0.2_1-main.log.gz
 build log] for [https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/32843
 #32843] shows that this {{{cabal}}} option is never used:
 {{{
   ghc-options: -pgmc=/usr/bin/clang
 }}}
 So that may be another ghost setting in {{{cabal}}}'s {{{config}}} file,
 and the only real way this ticket has been addressed is to simply
 blacklist {{{gcc}}}.
