 I tested the official versions of QGIS and GRASS.

 I downloaded and installed QGIS 4 and QGIS 3 from the [https://qgis.org
 QGIS] website, and GRASS 8.4 and GRASS 8.5 from the
 [https://grass.osgeo.org GRASS] website.

 In QGIS 3 and QGIS 4, under Settings → Options → System, I added two
 variables for GRASS in the Environment section.

 To use GRASS 8.4, I entered:

 GISBASE      /Applications/GRASS-8.4.app/Contents/Resources
 GRASS_PYTHON
 /Applications/GRASS-8.4.app/Contents/Resources/python.app/Contents/MacOS/python
 }}}

 To use GRASS 8.5, I entered:

 {{{
 GISBASE      /Applications/GRASS-8.5.app/Contents/Resources
 GRASS_PYTHON
 /Applications/GRASS-8.5.app/Contents/Resources/python.app/Contents/MacOS/python

 }}}

 Both QGIS 3 and QGIS 4 work well with GRASS 8.4.

 Neither QGIS 3 nor QGIS 4 works with GRASS 8.5.

 There may be some issues
