Comment (by JULWAL1):

 After successfully building and installing Rust @1.98 and Cargo @0.99 on
 macOS Sierra, I then decided to test and use it to build Py313-maturin
 @1.13.1 using the official Portfile for it (without my added/edited
 sections above). I expected to see the error:

 {{{
 :info:build = note: some arguments are omitted. use `--verbose` to show
 all linker arguments
 :info:build = note: Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64:
 :info:build             "_SecTrustEvaluateWithError", referenced from:

 :info:build ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64
 :info:build clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1
 (use -v to see invocation)
 :info:build
 :info:build error: could not compile `maturin` (bin "maturin") due to 1

 }}}

 but no - it successfully built py313-maturin @1.13.1 with no errors, which
 is good:

 }}}

 As I already have a copy of it installed, I only went through the {{{port
 extract}}}, {{{port build}}} and {{{port destroot}}} phases and not the
 {{{port install}}} phase.

 Hope this answers some questions.
