Problem compiling postgresql81

I just tried compiling the postgres client tools and it failed  
(postgres8 fails in a similar way).

I don't know if it's of any consequence, but I also get this:

$ port installed | grep postgres
   postgresql8 @8.1.3_0+darwin_8 (active)
   postgresql81 @8.1.4_0+darwin_8 (active)

$ sudo port uninstall postgres81
Error: port uninstall failed: Registry error: postgres81 not  
registered as installed.

likewise for postgres8.  I don't know how to clear this out manually.

Any ideas why it's not working?
