As for why I'm using the MacPorts Apache, I noticed that the MacPorts  
version is four revisions ahead of Apple's Apache, and I had  
mistakenly thought that my webhost was using Apache 1.3. Apparently I  
am wrong so all this work was sort of pointless. *sigh*
