Why? Are there any problems with downloading the files form the  
original server?

Simon took over maintainership of the package in MacPorts, and, as I  
see it, will make sure MacPorts follows the releases of the package  
in the future.
Please send him an email if you need a newer version than is  
available in MacPorts.

I am happy to submit his changes to svn, or (especially if he has  
more maintainerships) he applies for a svn account himself (see  
MacPorts wiki for details).
