php5 and gd 2.0.35 (was: Re: php5 and freetype)

Ok. I have now had the chance to rebuild php5 5.2.3_0 with gd2  
2.0.35_0 installed, and it still succeeds, and php5 does not in fact  
end up linking against gd2. So much for my hunch. Could you please  
post your config.log? Hopefully that will give us a clue what it's  
having problems with.
