P5-PDL Fails

I get the following error when I build p5-pdl from p5-gimp:

Anyone else come across this problem... and/or know a solution?
I am working with a Powermac G4 running OSX 10.4.9.
My MacPorts is version 1.440.
My perl version is 5.8.8 for darwin-2level
I had installed from a fresh install and my first port command ran after
sync and selfupdate was "sudo port -v install p5-gimp" then the error I
am reporting now, happened.
