Problems installing svk-2.0.1

I was trying to install the "svk" port, but it was taking an
extraordinarily long time for the "Configuring svk" step. When I turn
on debug output, I can see that it's stuck in an endless loop,
repeating this bit over and over:

    (1) Africa
    (2) Asia
    (3) Central America
    (4) Europe
    (5) North America
    (6) Oceania
    (7) South America
    Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []
    Sorry! since you don't have any existing picks, you must make a
    geographic selection.

Is there a workaround for this?
