I committed this change in r25527. Thanks, Paul.

Do you have pango installed? If so, perhaps gfontsampler requires an  
older version. gfontsampler is years old; maybe pango_xft_get_context  
is no longer available in current pango. If you need gfontsampler,  
you may want to contact the gfontsampler author, both to see about  
this error and to learn if there's a new homepage and official  
download location. According to the header of the source files, the  
author is ian_mcintosh (at) linuxadvocate (dot) org.
