[bash] error : trouble reading termcap after installing some ports

I Googled a little bit... I think this may have to do with the TERM  
environment variable. On my Mac, I get this:

$ echo $TERM
xterm

I didn't change it; xterm was the default. What is TERM set to on  
your system?
