Can't build and install GTK2 (p5-xml-parser issue?)

"port clean name" cleans the workspace used for patching/configuring/building
 a port, which does not clear out the download directory.

port clean has the following options:
--all         does all of the below
--archive  cleans the archive image of a built port off the system
--dist       removes downloaded distribution files
--work      removes the workspace (I think this is the default behavior)
