Problems using macports

Hallo, i've a problem after installing macports 1.600
When i tring to install my first package (Midnight Commander), this was 
the output:

libiconv pkgconfig

The macports installation is correct and at the last version (1.600).
Someone knows how can i solve this problem? editing wich file?, because 
it should be a missing in the main installation script that broke the 
pipe (this occurr also with all other ports).
The system is:
iBook G4 Power PC 933Mhz 640 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.4.11
