At least in my bash:

$ cd /*
-bash: cd: /Applications /Desktop DB /Desktop DF /Developer /Library
/Network /System /Users /Volumes /bin /cores /dev /etc /home /mach_kernel
/mach_kernel.ctfsys /mp /net /opt /private /sbin /tmp /usr /var: No such
file or directory

hence my thinking it'd be an error...maybe some shells just ignore later
arguments?
